Cooking Index
Listed below is an alphabetical index of all my recipes, kitchen tips, and food-related posts.
Looking for something specific?
Try using the Find feature in your browser:
On a Mac
Hold down the command key and press the letter F.
On a PC
Hold down the control key and press the letter F.
Either method should give you a box where you’ll be able to type in a word (like crockpot or mushrooms). Click the “Find next” button, and your browser will show you all of the places on this page where you can find that word.
If you’re looking for a word within the text of a post (but not necessarily in the title), the “Search the archive…” box at the top will work better.

- A Refreshing Watermelon DrinkEven when I'm not gestating, I don't consume much alcohol. It's a medical issue. I saw a wonderful, summery watermelon drink recipe in the June issue of Everyday Food, but it called for tequila. Two very minor changes turned it into a watermelon mocktail perfect for our whole family. Watermelon Spritzers

- Bacon and Cheddar Deviled EggsI'm drooling over the title; aren't you? I love deviled eggs. Everyone I know loves deviled eggs. Around here, a dozen deviled eggs disappears before I even set the plate down. I found this recipe at the America Egg Board website that I mentioned a few days ago.

- Chili Chicken with Cornmeal DumplingsJoe surprised me with this recipe last week. He cooked it one night just to pack it in our lunches. It wasn’t left over; we never did eat it for dinner. He just made it for our lunches. Have I got a good guy or what? Anyway, I never ate chili like this before, so it was different and very good. Chili Chicken with Cornmeal Dumplings

- Egg and Asparagus SaladOur asparagus is starting to emerge from the ground! Asparagus is labor-intensive to get started, but once it's established, it is low maintenance and prolific. If you have a nice, sunny spot in your yard (and you adore asparagus like I do), you should look into growing it. As with most foods, fresh asparagus from your own garden is worlds different from what you buy in the store from half a world away.roasted asparagus I love to roast asparagus and use it in this gorgeous salad.

- How to Make Perfect Hard Boiled EggsIt's egg season! I love Easter. My favorite thing about Easter is Easter candy, but I haven't imbibed this year. I don't intend to imbibe, either. Easter can be great without lots of candy. My hard boiled eggs are terrible. I'm not alone. A study conducted by the American Egg Board in February 2010 showed that fewer than 30% of us hard cook our eggs properly. Lest I ruin someone else's Easter eggs, I consulted the American Egg Board for help with the hard cooking.
