This pregnancy has been so different from my last one that I have trouble believing the result will be the same.
I remarked just today that my feet weren’t swollen the last time until I was well past 7 months along. This time, my feet and legs are swelling, and I’m just 9 weeks pregnant.
A friend mentioned that it’s the weather that makes pregnant women swell more than the stage of pregnancy. I wonder if there’s something to that.
Anyway, when I was pregnant with Grace, I had no desire to clean. I slept a lot. I did a lot of sewing and crafts and scrapbooking. I read.
I didn’t clean.
I did so little cleaning the last time I was pregnant that I didn’t even clean up after myself.
This time, it’s different. I think I’m nesting already.
I feel compelled to clean. My wiping and tidying is compulsive.
Last week, while Grace was taking a bath, I used my Magic Eraser to clean the bathroom walls.
Over the weekend, I used my Magic Eraser on the walls in the hallway and the stairwell.
Just a side note – I have not found anything that the Magic Eraser won’t take off of my walls. I’m totally in love with it right now. (This is not a sponsored post. I buy my Magic Erasers at Sam’s Club.)
Yesterday, I opened the microwave and realized that it was filthy. I was too nauseous to worry about it at the time, but it’s number one on my list of things to clean.
Is this nesting?
I’m also feeling compelled to get some sewing done. I started an I Spy quilt for Grace last year, and I never finished it. I’ve been sewing the rows together by hand in the evenings. It’s relaxing and tedious, perfect for when I’m too nauseous to do much of anything else.
What out-of-character things have you done when you were pregnant?

Oh my. The magic eraser scares the heck out of me—my husband loves it—but I mean…WHAT in the world kind of chemicals are in those things that make them so darned magic? Ya know!!
And listen, I have five kids, three pregnancies and I can ASSURE you that summer/hot weather pregnancy is a whole new ball game. Heck—I am more swollen in the summer and I am not even pregnant!
You will have to do a lot more feet propping and resting, is all!
Thanks for your honesty.
Grace was born on June 2, so I wasn't pregnant in the heat of the summer before. I've always wondered what people complained about. Now I know.
