7 Down, 93 To Go

I have a confession to make. It’s not what you think.

I like to exercise.

For thirty years, I have hated exercise. Loathed it. I’d do anything to avoid getting myself up off the couch and running or walking around.

I always read that you have to find an exercise you like, and then it isn’t work any more. I never believed it. Until now.

I have been doing my EA Sports Active Personal Trainer almost every day, and I like it. The workouts are becoming easier, and I look forward to doing them.

Sometimes, Joe works out with me.

Not my feet! Mine are tattooed.

Sometimes, Grace exercises with me.

Sometimes, I work out all by myself. Well, my EASA trainer is there. And the cats. They’re always underfoot.

It’s easier to exercise when Grace isn’t around, but a lot of my motivation is to set a good example for her. If she only sees me sitting around, I’m not being a very good example.

I’m seeing big changes on the scale.

I’ve lost 7 pounds since December 30. I find that incredible.

I know I won’t continue to lose at that rate, but it sure is motivating to see the scale drop so quickly. When I get a craving for a Vanilla Coke, it’s a lot easier to resist given that I’ve had success already.

I’m drinking lots of water.

I’m not pushing water. I drink when I’m thirsty. But the more I move, the thirstier I get. I have been averaging between 6 and 10 8-ounce glasses of water per day.

I carry a stainless steel water bottle most everywhere with me, full of filtered ice water. When I’m thirsty, I drink it.

Next up…

I’m not ready to add anything new to my routine just yet. I’m going to read more of The Spark and work on adding 2 new things next week.

I LOVE that you like exercise. I didn't expect that to happen so quickly. Good for you. And when you said that you don't reach for the diet vanilla coke because you think about how far you have come….well, that is EXACTLY What I do. You are thinking the right way. Baby steps, doing activity when kids are around, etc. You GO GIRL!! XXOO

Girl, that is AWESOME!!! I am interested in hearing how you like The Spark. I personally love Sparkpeople and used them exclusively in the first few months of my weight loss endeavors. It's simple to use and motivational too!

Keep up the work!

Great job!! You could take measurements so that when the scale moves less you'll be able to see the results in the tape measure! Keep it up girl – you can do it!

I’ve discovered that I get a little thrill from running. And talk about a runner’s high — geez, I had no idea what they were talking about. Now I do and I can’t wait to get that feeling again, and again, and again.

I love EASports Active, too. Oh, and the Gold’s Gym Cardio Boxing (also for the Wii). They should really hire me to promote them because that boxing workout is so freaking awesome.

I like it. It's not a typical “diet” book, and that's what I like about it. The author talks about making small changes. Hearing that message from several places at once really made it stick with me.

I've never heard of the Cardio Boxing game. What do you love about it?

I've only gotten the high once… but I keep trying! :)

Thanks, Andrea. :) I like The Spark. It's basically a condensed version of the website. I found the site totally overwhelming and never got a lot out of it. The book is much more simple and streamlined, and that was better for me.

7 lbs is amazing! Good job! I’m going to try EA Sports Active today I think. It is amazing how much a little progress can do for your will power! Try paying attention to how many calories you’re burning, it always helps me with temptation. I don’t want to put them in when I know how hard it is to get them out!

I love how you're adding in a little at a time! It can be frustrating to jump in with both feet right at the beginning. Don't overwhelm yourself. Awesome attitude and congrats on resisting the vanilla coke! Keep up the good work!!

Simple, easy steps are the beginning. I'm still in those beginning steps too, but it's so important to get each one down before going to the next. You are doing great!

Yes! That's exactly how I've always felt. I don't like to be sweaty, I don't like the smell. But now I like the feeling I get afterward, so I'm willing to do it.

Well I think it’s great what you’re setting up for yourself. I like the fact you drink when you’re thirsty but always consistant in drinking water. My DH got me the EA sports active (yay) today and did my first challenge. Just like you, I am really looking forward to playing this one everyday. So proud of you!
