Popcorn & a Movie
This past Sunday morning, the stress of Grace’s broken leg and the flooded family room and broken hot water tank hit me. Even though it was 10 in the morning and I’d had a good night’s sleep, I was exhausted.
Drained.
Fatigued.
While Joe and Grace played, I took a nap on the couch.
I opened my eyes to this -
Joe and Grace were taking in a movie, sharing a bowl of popcorn, and drinking strawberry banana juice.
The green bowl – my lettuce keeper – was full of popcorn. Grace was using a yellow wooden spoon, orange colander, and silver pot from her play kitchen to serve herself and her daddy.
My heart swelled.
It’s not how I would have done things. I would have had pretty bowls. I would have served the snack. I would have held Grace in my lap so we could cuddle and chat about the movie.
It’s not how I would have done it, but it worked for them.
And that’s what made it so awesome.
