I Kiss It

I am one of 45 million Americas who suffer from migraines. A mild one is unpleasant, and a bad one is debilitating.

Yesterday, I woke up with one that leaned toward the bad side. I Kiss It

I was not moving very quickly, and Grace noticed.

Mommy, you have booboo?

“Yeah. Mommy’s head hurts.”

Mommy’s head?

“Yeah. Mommy’s head hurts.”

Lemme see.

I bent down so that she could see my forehead and the top of my head, not knowing what to expect.

She kissed me. Right above my hairline.

I pulled back and looked at her quizically.

I kiss it, Mommy.

“You kissed what, Baby?”

I kiss your booboo. Now you feel better.

“Ohhhh. You kissed my head so I’d feel better. Thank you, Honey.”

You’re welcome, Mommy. You kiss my booboo; I feel better. I kiss your booboo; you feel better.

“Yes. I kiss your booboos, and you kissed my booboo. That was so kind of you.”

You feel better, Mommy?

“I feel better, Gracie,” I lied.

Good. Go-go to breakfast with Pappy?

From the mouth of a babe.

I have migraines too. LB and I had a very similar conversation recently. Eerily similar. I hate that when I say I can’t do what she’s asking me to do, her first response is, “Mama’s head hurt?” I wish I never had to say no to my child because of a headache. TLC goes a long way, doesn’t it?

Ah Gracie is such a sweet little cutie! I am amazed by her language skills, she is such a bright little girl! Ryder does not put sentences together quite like that yet, but I’m sure it will only be a matter of time. Geez, how quick they are growing!
