I Love Boating

13 July 2009 Comments

I think Grace watches too much television.

There, I said it. I think she watches way too much tv.

I’m sure I’m not alone. Do your kids watch too much tv?

This week’s MckLinky asks participants to share three things that readers probably don’t know about us, so I’m going to share three things that relate to how I pry Grace from the tv.

I love boating…

My uncle has a pontoon boat, and I love it. I have so many memories of cruising down the Clarion River and jumping off the boat for a swim. I recently took Grace out on the boat for the first time, and it was great.

But I hate fishing.

I think the whole catch and release fishing thing is cruel. I think, if you’re going to fish, you should eat the fish you snag (as long as they’re legal, of course). I’ve seen a good bit of research that suggests fish feel pain. Plus, I’d much rather read or swim that hold a fishing pole. Nonetheless, Grace thought the fishing part was fun.

I catch fish, Momma. I catch fish.

She didn’t catch any, but that didn’t seem to bother her.

I have no patience.

And neither does Grace.  She got bored after holding the fishing pole for about forty seconds, and she moved on to driving the boat.

I’m not very good with rules.

I wanted to share a picture of my mom, since she was on the boat, too, but she didn’t fit into any of the above themes.

We can’t go on the boat without eating. See the gril in the photo of Grace driving? It’s above her, to the right. My uncle was cooking our lunch. So, that’s why you can see a McDonald’s cup in the photo below. If you’re going to have lunch, you have to have drinks.

Here’s a bonus thing #5 that you didn’t know – My mom’s visor blew off right after this picture was taken, and we had to turn around and go after it with a fishing net.

Grilling on the boat, I didn't know people did that. Sounds like a great day.

I love boating too! That's so cool that you own a pontoon boat. My hubby would love to have one. Around here, water is a huge privilege. You have to either be a part of a marina or live in a water privileged community or drive at least an hour away to a State Park.

    Happy blog hopping (& boating)

Heather - Funny! I totally didn't notice that at all. He did, for the record, have shorts on. :) I didn't know you grew up so close to me!

Um, looks like Uncle doesn't have any clothes on. #justsayin

Fun pictures (except the one of Uncle). We did some boating on the Clarion River when I was growing up too.

My aunt and uncle have a pontoon boat. We love to visit them in the summer to tour the lake and enjoy the sunshine. Great photos as always :)
