Grace’s Teething Fix

My babe is teething.

More accurately, she is getting all four of her eye teeth at one time. One has broken through and the other three are still pushing on her gums.

Her mouth hurts.

My baby that wouldn’t suck on a pacifier and never sucked her thumb, even in utero, started chewing her thumb this week.

Up to this point, I’ve been easing her pain with ibuprofin or Tylenol or frozen Gogurts or popsicles. Those work, but apparently, Grace decided to take matters into her own hands. Literally.

If you’re wondering, I’m ignoring it. I think the thumb chewing will stop when the mouth pain stops, so I’m not at all worried about it becoming a long term behavior.

Anyway, when thumb sucking is this cute, how could anyone object?

How cute! My little one just cut her first tooth – I just feel so bad when it hurts her. I’m glad the thumb chewing works for now.

I have to admit,I thought it was cute when my son sucked his thumb and carried his ducky with the same hand so he could have the tag by his nose.

Eeek! the eye teeth were the worst for X – and they came in FIRST. He was frickin’ miserable for two weeks straight.

Have you tried a teething necklace? It seemed to help him, during the day at least.

Awwww, poor baby! Teething has got to be on one of those miserable milestones for little ones!!

Have you tried those Hyland Teething Tablets? They’re homeopathic. They worked beautifully on all my kids when they were teething!! You can find them at any drugstore.

All four at once, poor baby. You’re doing it all right especially by not fussing over her chewing her thumb. I really don’t think it will become a habit since she’s doing it out of pain, not security.

Hope she feels better soon.

Ladybug feels Gracie’s pain – literally! But she’s cutting molars instead. We recently discovered hyland’s teething tablets and they work like a charm on LB. Really helps the swelling to go down, and I think they work faster than tylenol or ibuprofen.

and i wouldn’t worry about the thumb either. she needs the comfort!

My Gracie was doing the same thing about 2 weeks ago, and sure enough some of two teeth came in, in the same weekend. Hang in there. I am with you, it will stop, when the pain does.
