Did you plan your children?

I apologize, Dear Reader, if that question is too personal. Did you?

I did. I planned Grace’s due date so that I could take the least amount of maternity leave. I planned her gender, trying every tip I read on the internet that was guaranteed to produce a girl. I planned her personality, ornery and precocious. I planned her name and her nursery and her curly hair.

I wish you’d known me then, Dear Reader. I would have driven you crazy.

I’m a planner.

Except when it comes to household projects and then, not so much. It drives my husband crazy. But I digress.

My dearest Dear Readers already know that Joe and I intend to have just one child. Partly due to the ten months of puking my doctor called an unusual but normal pregnancy and party due to other factors (including financial ones), we’ve decided that there shall be no more G-Z kids in queue.

Unless God intervenes, and then, what are we to do? We’ll deal with it, and Grace will have a sibling.

So, back to my original question, did you plan your children?

I find it fascinating to talk to other mothers and fathers about the choices they’ve made concerning the size of their families. Everyone has a story, usually a lengthy one, so tell me yours.

How many children do you expect to have?
What made you decide on that number?
Is there more to the story?

I planned to have 4-5 kids but then I realized that I’m infertile. I have two adopted and we love them a lot. Now I realize that two kids is a great number for me. One of each.

I’d love to have two. Hubby wants none. Still trying to convince him! One would be enough to make me a mum – my dream. For now I borrow 20 of other peoples during the school day. Gotta love teaching. :)

Ours was planned, in a “we’re not NOT trying to get pregnant” kind of way. I’d like one more, although hubby’s not totally convinced. X is only 1, so we’ve got some time.

We knew we wanted to have kids, but our first pregnancy was a surprise. We weren’t ready yet, but we were excited and happy.

Our 2nd pregnancy was defitely planned and welcomed. I was a control freak because of our first loss. I selected the delivery date – how control freakish is that?

But Ladybug will be raised as an only child (in the world’s eyes) because I just can’t go through another anxiety filled pregnancy. But she will be raised to know that she has a sister in heaven waiting for all of us. We wanted 2 children and we have that.

BTW, I tagged you for a book meme, if you have time for it!

My first one was planned…somewhat like how you did it except for the gender. For my current pregnancy, nothing was planned. It came unexpected but very much welcome.

For your other questions, me and my husband wanted just 2 kids. A decision made based on our current financial status. We figure that if things doesn’t go well in the future, we can still raise of 2 kids well enough. Is there more to the story…? That will be a long one…I’ll let you now when I get around to blog about it. :)

Have a nice day!

My BB wasn’t planned by me, but he was certainly planned by God! I had experienced multiple miscarriages and I had been told that I couldn’t have kids. I knew that God could do anything, and I poured my heart out pleading to Him. He answered. I had a rough pregnancy and BB almost died during delivery, but he’s fine and healthy now. I’d like more kids, but I am also perfectly willing to let BB be an only child. Whatever happens, happens. I am not trying or preventing.

Baby E is currently an only child and will likely stay that way. I am also infertile but medicine is a wonderful thing. For a week we thought she would be twins but “sac B” never developed a heartbeat so we were blessed with just one. I had a hard pregnancy and Baby E was sick upon delivery and had a stay in the NICU and two surgeries. My DH desperately wanted a boy and would still like a boy but he also isn’t a gambler and knows if we’d try to have one more baby we’d end up with six more like the Gosslings. So Baby E will likely be a one and only.

Let’s see…Firecracker Princess, conceived on the pill. Chubby Cheeked Monster, conceived on a mini-pill. Look Alike, conceived using FAM. So yeah, my kids were planned, clearly. By God. :D
