The great lipstick challenge

A few weeks ago, Jenny said she was going to host The Great

Lipstick Challenge, in which we would all try out a new shade of lipstick each day for a week.  Heather and I jumped right in.  Heather, being a Mary Kay consultant, sent me 7 free samples, and I’ve been trying to remember one every day.
I’m sure all of the shades look good on somebody, but they haven’t all looked good on me.  I should have consulted Heather’s color selecting skills before requesting my shades.  Live and learn.
Day one – Downtown brown

Day two – bronzed
Day three – red.
Forgot to take self portrait, hubby took this on the way to his brother’s wedding.
Day four – apple berry (*My favorite so far!)

Day five – black cherry

Day six – pink satin

Day seven – amber suede

I like the brown! I think darker colors and lipsticks in the red family will look great on you! We brunettes can get away with the pin up girl lips ;)

Thanks for participating! I actually like this color on you. And I’m jealous, because as Ro says, you brunettes can get away with all those lushious colors that the rest of us can’t.

Great self portrait by the way, I think I need to take tips from you. LOL.

I like downtown brown in general (being a heather and a former MK consultant, and a make up artist before that), but have you tried popping a little gloss on top? It’ll take away some of the intensity of the dark shade.

And pureed spinach doesn’t taste like much, green smoothie, aside from being green, just tastes like fruit. Let me know if you try it, it totally changed my life!

I do like the downtown brown! It might be darker than you would normally wear, but it looks good! Can’t wait to see the rest!

You can pull off lipstick well! They both look good. My lips are too little, it looks goofy. I am excited to see the red…I love red lipstick

i like the bronzed so far. lipstick is one of those things i have tons of because it’s so fun, but most days i don’t see the point in putting it on.

How fun. Can’t wait to see the other shads. I am a naturalist with my lips. I usually have on Blistex medicated chap stick. How boring, I know. Then, when I get daring…. I wear a lip gloss, that to me, looks great with lots of color. Then I see a picture with it on and think, did I forget to put my lip gloss on? No, it is just neutral. Silly me. You go girl.

Day one and Day two are my favorites on you. To me they are more natural looking and, like myself, the browner colors make the redness in your face go away.

Can’t wait to see more!

Wow, I really like the Pink Satin on you! The darker colors are good too, but the light pink is a great color for running around during the day, I think. Looks so pretty!

Okay…now that I’ve seen all seven days I am still leaning towards the first two being my favorites.

Wooooah, being able to wear brown or deep lip colours has NOTHING to do with your hair colour – but is determined by the depth of your skin colour! Come on, makeup lovers! :-)
My opinion: You suited Apple Berry best, followed by Pink Satin, then Red and the rest were no good at all, because you are a cool (probably ‘Summer’ season) person so you suit medium or light shades. If you had really dark features (eyes, black hair etc) the deep shade would look great, but you don’t so – like me – stick to the medium cool-toned sahdes and avoid oranges and browns. Hope offering my advice was ok.
