I looooove this green bean recipe. It’s my absolute favorite way to eat them, and it’s very easy.
| Oriental Green Beans |
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce (we use low sodium)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 6 cloves garlic, pressed or minced
Instructions
- Steam beans until just tender, 4 to 5 minutes.
- While beans are cooking, combine soy sauce, oil, and sugar. Set aside.
- Preheat large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic, stirring constantly until soft, 20 to 30 seconds. Add green beans, stirring constantly about 2 minutes.
- Add soy sauce mixture. Continue to cook and stir until most of the liquid is absorbed, 1 to 2 minutes.
- Serve hot.
If your family is anything like mine, you should make a double batch. It’s that good.

This sounds good! Better than the traditional green bean casserole that has mushrooms (ick!).
I’m going to the local veggie stand today. I might have to pick up some green beans!

I was so glad to see you at the Bean Fest today, and to travel here to find your recipe. I love sesame oil…especially the toasted kind, with that unique flavor. Thanks for this inspiration.

Ooh, I can’t wait to try this one. I love green beans at Chinese restaurants!
