I looooove this green bean recipe. It’s my absolute favorite way to eat them, and it’s very easy.

Oriental Green Beans

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (we use low sodium)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 6 cloves garlic, pressed or minced
Instructions
  1. Steam beans until just tender, 4 to 5 minutes.
  2. While beans are cooking, combine soy sauce, oil, and sugar. Set aside.
  3. Preheat large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic, stirring constantly until soft, 20 to 30 seconds. Add green beans, stirring constantly about 2 minutes.
  4. Add soy sauce mixture. Continue to cook and stir until most of the liquid is absorbed, 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. Serve hot.

If your family is anything like mine, you should make a double batch. It’s that good.

*Life is good!  This recipe was included in the Dinner Tonight: Green Bean Fest on MarthaStewart.com! Yes, for real. Go look for yourself.

This sounds good! Better than the traditional green bean casserole that has mushrooms (ick!).

I’m going to the local veggie stand today. I might have to pick up some green beans!

I was so glad to see you at the Bean Fest today, and to travel here to find your recipe. I love sesame oil…especially the toasted kind, with that unique flavor. Thanks for this inspiration.
