What I love about being married

Remember how I told you that I never intended to get married or have a child?  Since I wrote that post, I’ve been thinking about how my life would be different if I’d never gotten married.  It’s a scary thought.  I love being married, and here’s what I love most about it.

I’m certain that Joe would say I most love having someone to pick up after me, cook my meals, and take out the trash.  While I do like those things, I’m a capable woman (shhh!  Don’t tell him!).  These things are more important -
I love having a partner.  It doesn’t matter what my problem is, I can go to him for support and encouragement.
I love being silly.  Whether we’re playing with bubbles, swimming, or tickling each other, laughing together is the best feeling!
I love that we complement each other.  I have strengths that benefit Joe(like being assertive), and Joe has strengths that benefit me (like making plans ahead of time).  We’re a perfect team.
I love that Joe is always on my side.
I love that Joe compliments me all the time.
I love going to church together.
I love traveling together.
When it really comes down to the bottom line, I love spending time together.  Even sitting in the same room with him is nice, whether either of us is speaking or doing something.  Just being together is enough.
I love being married.  I am a lucky woman, and I’m right where I belong.

You sound like one amazingly blessed lady. What a wonderful tribute to your husband, and to marriage.

Mister Linky is up on my Marriage Monday post now, so I hope you’ll stop by and add your permalink. That way, others can find you to visit!

Blessings,

What a great list! There are so many things that I love about being married (and I’m another who never intended to get married). I’m so thankful God knew that I needed a partner even when I thought I didn’t. Thanks for sharing.

Well, I can so relate to this!
I vowed I was gonna stay single forever!
I wanted kids though.
Then…I met my Dave. And boy did the Lord change my mind about marriage…I cannot imagine my life without my husband and what the Lord has done for and through us and how we have grown spiritually, emotionally. Thanks for sharing…I love your list!

This is so funny that, like many of us, I vowed after 2 failed and bad marriages, I’d never get married again either, or at least not for a long, long time, and surely not without God having hand-picked the man. Well, needless to say, He did, and I am truly blessed. Your list is a testament to your marriage and the way you feel about your husband, and apparently, how he feels about you. You have been truly blessed as well. Be blessed in your marriage for a lifetime! I enjoyed reading this.

I just found the comment you left saying you liked the second purse I made. :) Somehow, I missed it on the first go-round, so I’m glad I finally saw it, and that you liked the change purse too. I’m still open for business, so whenever you (or anyone else) gets the itch for a new purse, just swing on by.
