Vacations with my niece
Now that I know who you are, I have to apologize to you. I’m going away for three days, so I’m going to leave you post-less from this Sunday and Tuesday. I’m really sorry, but you’re going to have to find something else to do with your time.
Where am I going?
I’m visiting my Grandma and picking up my niece for a week-long visit. She’s 16. For most of the last 13 summers, she’s visited for a week or so. We’ve almost always had a great time. (The almost part is a story I’m sure she’d rather I kept to myself.)
I live in an awesome area. We’re 90 minutes from Baltimore, DC, Philadelphia, State College. How cool is that? My mom, sister, and I have taken my niece to the National Aquarium
in Baltimore, historic Philly
, the Crayola Factory
, and all kinds of museums and zoos. I’m not sure what we’ll do this year; now that she’s bigger, we let the niece pick the outings.
Don’t we look happy? It’s a farce. We’re smiling because we had given up and someone was coming to rescue us. We whined the whole time because it was hot and sweaty and we were immediately lost and going in circles. It was a
great time. Maybe we’ll go there again this year.
Another time, we went to the Hershey Gardens
. They’re beautiful, and there’s a butterfly house that is really neat. We’re thinking about suggesting that this year, too.
What’s that you say? There’s someone missing from the picture? Yes, my niece was pouting somewhere. If I remember correctly, we were laughing at the fit she was throwing.
One of our favorite places is the National Aquarium
. This one is from the rain forest exhibit there. I adore this picture. It is hanging on the wall in my living room.
Notice the corn maze t-shirts from above. They should have said, “I survived!”
My last picture today is from Hershey Park
. We live really close, and we have taken Grace a few times.
Hershey, PA also has a professional hockey team called the Bears. That’s their mascot with us and the Peppermint Patty. Fun stuff.
