Help us, Martha!

Joe and I have been making a concerted effort to keep our home cleaner and tidier. Except we aren’t very good at it. And we didn’t know where to start.
If you saw the home I grew up in, you’d understand. I don’t want to make excuses, but I didn’t learn to clean up and keep house in the same way that other people do.
Joe’s not any better at the actual work than I am, so we turned to an expert for some help. For some time, Martha Stewart’s Homekeeping Handbook
has been collecting dust on a shelf in our living room. It’s a bohemoth of a book, full of good stuff, but neither of us has really looked at it. Until now.
We’re in the process of making up a schedule of chores, not for Grace, but for us. We’re hoping it will help us keep the place put together and nice.
Do you have a schedule or do you just do what needs to be done? I’m interested to hear how others maintain their homes. Maybe something you suggest will work for us.
