Birthdays

Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 29.

It was a nice day. A lot of my friends remembered and wished me a happy day. Joe gave me a gift certificate for Barnes & Noble bookstore and a homemade coupon for a dinner for two at the restaurant of my choice. My parents and sister joined Joe, Grace, and I for a nice steak dinner at the Texas Roadhouse.  I sat on a faux horse and wore a sombrero.

That got me to thinking.  What did I do for my 28th birthday?  I’d just had Grace. hmm. I vaguely remember a dinner at Houlihan’s.  27? I was about to get married, but what did I do for my birthday. Not sure. 26? No clue.  Joe gave me a ruby necklace one year and the matching earrings the next year.  Which two were they?
I remember going to ChiChi’s for my 21st birthday because I had two alcoholic beverages,  and my parents were afraid they’d have to carry me to the car.
I remember going to Red Lobster for my 16th birthday.  My friend, Jen, came along, and some of the buttons on my dress popped open.
We moved on my 8th birthday or the day before or the day after.  I remember being devastated about that.
I was getting a little frustrated, so I opened iPhoto thinking there would be some birthday pictures in there.  There were pictures of Grace every month on her birthday, but not a single July 2 picture as far back as 2002. Nada.  Nothing to scrapbook.  Nothing to remember.
I’m feeling a little sorry for myself.
Help me out.  Do you remember your birthdays?  Do you do special things?

As you get older, birthdays become more of “just another day”. I can tell you that the year I turned 18, they had changed the drinking age to 21, so we ended up having a party at home instead of going out. That’s about the most memorable one for me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Mine is Tuesday :)

I don’t really remember specific ages, but I do remember lots of fun celebrations. That’s what really matters anyway!

I stopped remembering birthdays after 21! I think it’s a mental condition to aging! I hope you had a great birthday! My Mom shares your birthday!

I remember a few parties during my early childhood and I remember 16 and 21. Not for any special reason.

I just turned 40 in April and my hubby threw me a surprise party and I blogged it, so I DO remember that.

Happy Birthday!

Happy belated birthday!

I remember my 30th – still single, so I went to Toronto with my mom and sis to enjoy The Lion King Musical. Then my 31st, I celebrated with my fiance (!) and his family. Funny story to go with that birthday too.

Hope you had a great day!
