I’m jumping on the bandwagon.

I try to stay away from bandwagons. I don’t like to go with the flow. I really prefer to do my own thing and think my own thoughts. I’ve been heartily resisting the BPA in the bottles panic over the past weeks on the grounds that it’s not the big deal some are making it out to be.

I managed to keep a clear conscience, right up until I found out that many Babies R Us are offering a full refund on bottles that contain BPA.

Wow. This must be a bigger deal than I thought.

Wondering if it was for real, I called the Harrisburg store, and the clerk confirmed the offer. Joe and I packed up all of the bottles we’ve been using for 11 months and 3 weeks, and we took them in to the BRU store. They gave us a few cents less than $80 in store credit, which we used to buy some glass bottles, new nipples, and formula.

I liked our Ventaire bottles a lot better than the new glass ones, but the glass ones are undoubtedly safer.

I noticed that a lot of the bottles still being sold have BPA, which makes me wonder about the bottle industry. What’s going on here? Have they not gotten the memo??

Hmm, great, now I need to decide if I’m a bad mommy for not doing this… Maybe I need to call my Babies R Us and see if they are participating as well…

I am totally with you… I was trying to stay away from bottle thing. Then my friend came over on Sat and was explaining it to me, and now I feel like I can’t honestly keep feeding Maddie out of our Dr. Browns! I went to BRU today and bought 4 more nuby sippy cups. Since they are supposed to be off bottles by 1 year anyhow, I am just going to use those. I did not however know that they were offering refunds on the BPA bottles. I have to check that out. Thanks for the info!

andres has been on my case to get new bottles for a while. even his and my nalgene bottles. now that BRU is doing the refunds, i might give in. he gets maybe 2 bottles a week now anyways.

we’re slowly trying to switch over to all green type stuff for antonio. the hardest thing to give up will be the pampers.

Good for Babies R Us for having a social conscience! That’s great!

Careful if you purchased the Born Free glass bottles. My cousin has gone through a number of these with her new baby. They seem to break very easily in the bottle warmer.

It’s always something isn’t it? It’s so hard to stay on top of what is best, especially with all the conflicting information. Our girls are too old for bottles, but I still feel a pang when I hear about BPA. There’s nothing I can do about it now, though.
