Remember in that movie, A Christmas Story, when Ralphie has to write a theme called “What I Want for Christmas?” That’s what I was thinking of as I wrote the following.
Me – During my Christmas vacation, I drove for 22 hours. I drove all over the state of Pennsylvania in search of relatives with feasts. I found them, and they welcomed me. I slept in beds with my baby instead of my husband. I attended a funeral. I took pictures and changed diapers and visited. I shopped (a lot).
Joe – During my Christmas vacation, I slept in the car (a lot). I did whatever my wife told me, which was often cooking, cleaning, and playing with the baby. I celebrated my 38th birthday. I tried to play Wii, but something else was always waiting. About three days into the vacation, I was looking forward to going back to work.
Grace – During my Christmas vacation, I rode in the car (a lot). I refused to nap, except when riding in the car. I refused to sleep, unless in a bed with my momma. I got my first two teeth after a very painful week of teething. I ate a lot of wrapping paper, a few vegetables, and some traditional Catholic Holy bread.
I smiled and laughed and endeared myself to everyone I met.
I learned to pull up to standing without any help. I smeared myself and my great Grandma with apple butter.
I smeared myself and my dad with bananas.
I took a bath in the sink of every house I visited.

Tara – I love this post – especially your daughter sitting in the sink with that HUGE smile on her face. She made me smile. It sounds like a busy, wonderful holiday. (PS – I know I’ve posted before – in case you were wondering I found you on the Baby Center June Mommies board.)
