I am a snow day maniac. I may well be worse than my students in that I await 2 hour delays, early dismissals, and snow days with overzealous glee. Earlier in the week, it became clear that there would be winter weather today, and I was delighted.
Except that I decided to break the rules and purchased some mouse traps that my teacher neighbor installed for me in the closet. I wanted to go to school to get an update on the mouse problem. This morning, I groaned when I heard “2 hour delay” on the radio.
Ugh! What is wrong with me?
An hour or so later, school was called off, but I just could not appreciate my snow day until I knew whether my mouse traps were successful. (To be perfectly honest, I also needed to get the power cord for my laptop.)
I live only 6 miles from my school and, at 8:30 am, the rain hadn’t yet begun to turn to ice, so Grace and I bundled up and drove over. She got a ride in the car, I got my power cord, and we checked the traps.
Success! Without opening the closet door, I could see a sprung trap and a dead rodent. One down, three to go (assuming no one moves in from elsewhere in the building).
Now I can enjoy my snow day with Gracie Anna!

I’m somewhat jealous. We kept getting teased with the thought of a snow day, but the weather kept passing us by.
I’m hoping for one or two before we start back so that I can spend a little more time with our older boys.

I miss snow days. Heck, I sometimes wish I’d gone into teaching after all; in part for the summer vacations, in part for the “surprise” days off, with time to play in the snow.

How fun. I used to LOVE snow days!!!
We don’t get them much anymore… or at least when they are called, they aren’t really warranted like they were when I was in school. We used to build snow forts and stuff.
Hope you enjoyed your day with Gracie! Glad you are getting rid of the pests even if you are breaking the rules, and admitting your crime in writing.
